Ron Thurston called Dorie's work "hypnotizing"!

"Glover has become a highly sought-after artist, due in part to her unique mixed-media and mixed-style approach, which allows her to express her subject's political views and personal heritage, in addition to creating a direct visual representation." Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art |
"Marcene's work is socially conscious. More artists should be working this way."
. . John Vanco, Director - Erie Art Museum

her mission to interview and paint
indentify[ing] the issues to be represented in the portraits

endeavors."

Faces In Government exhibit was chosen

"It is interesting to have someone right here regionally who has shown nationally in different museums. We are taking advantage of the fact that [Glover] is here in Johnstown and that she is able to put up this exhibit."

and 2009 one person exhibits at BOTTLE WORKS Ethnic Arts Center, Johnstown.
PA: "We call her the
silk sculptress. [Her works] are really charming. The ROOTS
TO WINGS theme is exemplified in a universal way in these three of Dorothy
Sheridan's pieces: Root Gatherer, Rain Maker, and Fiddler. People of all
cultures pray for rain, gather the crops, and celebrate the harvest. These
aspects of our daily lives are the focus of Dorothy's work. The people
Dorothy portrays are not meant to be recognizably from one particular time or
place. Rather, she presents familiar elements, in a manner that viewers from
any background can relate to, to remind us that no matter our individual
situation, we all share this world; "We are all in this together".
Dorothy takes these roots common to the human quality, and lets us know that
we not only work and toil together, but also hope and dream to soar, like her
winged creatures. Dorothy
has had to work and toil to overcome daily struggles so she can soar. Through
her kind and encouraging spirit when interacting with others, and through her
art, she stretches her wings. Parkinson's Disease is a struggle she has to
face daily. Through its healing powers, Dorothy's art helps her soar. In
turn, it lifts her viewers. |
